A Alternative Restorative Treatment (A.R.T.)
This dental procedure involves the removal of the soft demineralized tooth structure using hand instruments or occasionally using a dental drill. This procedure is completely painless, as the dentist only removes dead tooth structure.
Dentist then restore (fill) the cavity with materials that promote tooth healing and release fluoride. These mate¬rials are called glass ionomers and when placed properly, they may last for several months and even years.
