Fluoride Use
The use of supplemented fluoride (tablets or drops) for the prevention and control of caries is documented to be both safe and highly effective. Determining the amount of fluoride levels in the water (measured in parts-per-million or PPM) and other possible dietary sources of fluoride is the first step in this process.
According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, fluoride supplements should be considered for all children drinking fluoride-deficient (‹0.6 ppm) water. Based on published information, your dentist will recommend the correct amount of fluoride supplementation that best suits your child.
