Tongue Fence
Early intervention in oral habits like tongue thrusting, grinding, bruxism and thumb sucking (children) can prevent serious dental problems. A variety of splints and orthopedic appliances can be used in treatment.
A wire "fence" helps prevents a patient's tongue thrusting or thumb sucking. This appliance helps to guide facial muscles back to their normal position. If the appliance is used for a long-term (6-8 months) solution, additional rests can be bonded into position to help stabilize the appliance.
